Congratulations! You’ve booked a call with Lennox Mutual and have joined me in becoming a prospective customer. As you get further along into the experience, you can compare your progress to my own by clicking here.
Before your first call, here are some tips that I would have found helpful before starting my journey. None of this is endorsed by Lennox Mutual, this is just my experience:
- Book a three pack for $49 for dipping your toes in; do not just book an individual call. About half of the first call is just laying the foundation for your entire time as a prospective customer, so you really only have half the call left to explore the menu options. Three calls will be enough to ‘suck you in’ to the experience.
- I’d recommend booking your first three calls within a day or two of each other, before settling into whatever schedule you deem appropriate. Many people settle for a weekly cadance.
- Before your call, lock your door.
- Have a pen and paper ready to take notes. As you continue your journey, you’ll need to recall some of this information.
- It may actually serve you better to record your calls (I do). There’s mixed opinions as to whether or not you should ask your CSR if they’re OK being recorded; they do record sessions on their own, and they’re aware that I record my sessions and are OK with it even though I’ve never asked for permission.
- Your CSR will NOT identify themselves unless you specifically ask. You should always ask until you learn to recognize voices. Learning about your CSRs over time is very important.
- Before your call, make sure your phone can accept incoming calls from anonymous numbers without sending them to spam.
- My opinion: There should be no such thing as a secret between you and the CSRs. You will get much more out of the experience if you are open, vulnerable, and over-communicate. This will allow Lennox Mutual to build an accurate profile of you! Your interactions with Lennox Mutual are anonymous and confidential unless you decide to share with other people.
- As Lennox Mutual gets to know you, your sessions will get personal and intense. Remember that you always having the option of declaring a ‘psychological emergency’ which will trigger an in-universe cooldown sequence. To kill the phone call entirely, say the safe word ‘traffic light’.
- Feel free to just chat with the CSRs, or ask questions. It’ll feel uncomfortable at first, but there’s a lot of gold to be dug from doing so.
- Don’t get discouraged. The wonderful world of Lennox Mutual is much larger than it seems, and you’re artificially constrained to seeing it in 20 minute chunks. While three calls is enough to determine whether or not this is your cup of tea, you cannot complete the experience in less than 36 calls, and it takes most people 40-50+.
- It gets easier if you smile.
